Jan Kubíček

Form - action

In the 70s Kubíček's work took a new direction characterized by a significant application of the principle of dislocation, which the artist called a more developed form of “Forma-action”. It tells us about the transformational possibilities of structured shapes. One part of the work consists of the initial geometric shape, the second part of its dislocated shape, arising logically with systematic or intuitive intervention. With drop-offs he created dislocations, and with decomposition transformations shifting the square or circle. It is up to the viewer to discover the principle on which the operation was carried out.

In the first half of the 80s Kubíček produced Actions with lines and grids. These images show different forms of the “same” structure: organized and disorganized, static and dynamic, open and closed.
